One of the most ultimately frustrating things for me when creating digital art is when you can branch off and create like minutely different details to images where the difference is so slight you can hardly notice it at all, but nevertheless it does make a difference. And it becomes utterly confusing, to the point where I feel like I'm going nuts, trying to discern which option I prefer. Does it even matter? Most likely each version has its own positives and negatives. I think, or maybe hope, that through time and experience as and artist you will grow through practice to intuitively know what direction you want to go and what result you prefer. That would be nice. Haha. At this point so many hours of my time are taken up clicking back and forth between images and choices that the majority of people would probably be baffled to notice any Deviations at all. ;)

Ranting aside, here is my newest deviation addition to my gallery. I noticed a Public Garden near my house and I immediately knew I wanted to shoot there. This is one of the pics I liked best from our first outing at that location. I think it has a nice terse feel to it. Like pretty but also so much more underneath that golden pastel surface. I hope everyone likes it.

This is a lovely evening portrait which shows a lot of potential and good ideas from the photographer and could be made even better with a bit more thought and adjustment of technique.

The evening sunlight on the subject's face highlights her features really nicely and adds a great sense of time and feeling to the picture. I can't help but feeling that it would have been even better if that light spanned the whole of the subject's body rather than just her face (though sunlight-on-face technique is very aesthetically pleasing and definitely has its merits). You can see in the background that there was more light available and, indeed, more space.

The shot, as it is, feels quite narrow and claustrophobic. There was, from the looking at the background, a great opportunity to use the wider garden and open the portrait and its setting up a lot more. It might have been nice to use this space and take a slightly wider-angle shot and include all of the subject, head-to-toe. Certainly the girl's choice of attire matches her surrounds perfectly and a wider shot would have accentuated this feeling further.

The colours in the shot are very nice and warm and utilising the sunlight and the rest of the garden would have emphasised this further. The photographer clearly has a good eye for portraits and locations and could certainly do another of these shots and make it look potentially sublime.

She has such a powerful, scary expression. And the whole set of the photo makes it even stranger. I really Like it!!

haha. Well, I guess my only explanation is that I admittedly have kind of an unusual style, and her expression definitely fits for the type of images that I like. Its sort of like a hint of something, just outside the edge of the image that might unnerve you. This beautiful girl, clutching that spade in hand, with that shadow falling across her face, just so. I'd be happy to hear if people found the scene to feel both delicately pretty and dangerous at the same time.

If she was holding gardening sheers it would be more menacing that it is. As it stands she is very soft with a "why do you have that camera" look lol
